I know this is discussed comes up from time to time, but have not seen any confirmed date.

Does anyone know if there is a specific future date when emissions checks would be carried out which would were emissions would be to high die to a DPF delete?

I have heard 2027, but would like some confirmation before I do a delete.

I thought it was already a fail if they can visually see DPF removed or cut open and sealed up again. During the emissions check at present they can't tell but if there is soot at the exhaust end it's a clear sign of no DPF.

I know may people removing dof do it in a way so it looks stock from a visual check, and they hide any error lights. If you put the boot down a cloud if black smoke out the back is a give away.

If you are having DPF issues consider a proper repair or new genuine dpf. Depending on the issue many places that "clean" the DPF cannot solve the issue if it's due to high mileage and ash build up.

Does the NCT not rev the engine enough to produce the black smoke or is this taken care of via a fuel additive added before the test?

If the car is puffing black smoke that’s not all lack of DPF. Mine has dpf delete and didn’t put out visible black smoke before or after. Emissions before were 0.010m, after a further 40,000 miles and dpf delete its 0.250m (limit 1.5). In principle I’m against removing or messing with emissions systems but my car had vw fix and wasn’t right.

Visible black smoke only happens when you accelerate really hard and look in rear view mirror at the same time. In normal driving you won't see visible soot coming out the exhaust. During very hard acceleration the engine changes the mux and produces far more soot which is visible at times but you may not notice it or see it in rear view mirror depending on speed etc. You can usually see soot on exhaust tips.
