When do you join the waiting list?

Sorry if this has been asked before.

I had to pay for a test and join the waiting list back in November so that I could renew my learner permit for a third time. I hadn’t done any EDT lessons yet so I wasn’t eligible to be invited for a test yet. Just did my last EDT lesson yesterday so I’m eligible now and wondering if I would already have been on the waiting list or if I will be added now that my EDT lessons are finished?

I was checking waiting times for the test centre I choose and the estimated invitation date is mid November if you join the list now! Tried checking my estimated date using my driver number but it hasn’t updated with my complete EDT yet.

I could be wrong but I believe the idea is that you are invited to book the test when your place on the waiting list is reached and you can book a date for the test but if your not eligible come the test day you’ll lose your fee etc. and need to start the waiting list and everything again. (Including another €85). it might be the case it won’t actually let you book one until the EDT etc is finished.

Thing is I’m thinking they don’t necessarily require them to be logged on myroadsafety as long as you have your logbook filled in which you can show to the examiner. There’s actually no clear answer on the RSA website either AFAIK so if I’m wrong on how this works I’m hopeful someone with more knowledge can clear it up!

This is just how I understand it works.

My lessons have actually been uploaded to the portal. The MyEDT site has all 12 lessons but the RSA portal is still showing 10 at the minute because their site says it only updates every two weeks, and that’s why my driver number doesn’t work to show my own estimated date.

Hopefully my wait started back in November when I paid for the test! A 10 month wait would be insane.

The logbook is no longer relevant to the test or examiner. It's really just reference material for the student and a place for the instructor to leave notes about your lesson for you to review.

When you go to book the test and choose a date the system automatically checks the EDT record to make sure all 12 lessons are signed off by the instructor(s). You don't even bring the logbook with you anymore, the examiner doesn't check it.
