Aer Lingus cabin bag size

We are due to travel with Aer Lingus soon. Our baggage allowance is a 10kg case which goes into the hold plus a carry on small bag. The website gives dimensions what qualifies for the "small personal bag" but these seem very small. On other flights we would usually bring standard size back packs that we put on the floor under the seat in front of us but these bags would seem to be outside the dimensions. We would appreciate anyone's experience on how strict Aer Lingus are with this.

Other peoples' experiences are irrelevant, you might get away with it or you might not. Other flights are also irrelevant.

Why not bring a bag that complies with their dimensions?

Thanks for the reply. Understand that other flights are irrelevant but was just looking for an indication if other people found that Aer Lingus were strict in applying the dimensions which are 25/20/33 cm which is way smaller than our back packs which would be average size. Not to worry, thanks again for replying.

They have been not strict the last few times I use them. But, what will you do if they are?

Thanks LorenzoB for the reply, yes that's the problem. Will make the call nearer the time.

I flew Aer Lingus on Friday and they didn't stop anyone with any sized back pack getting on the plane.
