Stayed in Benalmadena a few years ago and loved to walk the promenade every night. Looking for something similar in the Algarve, not Albufeira. Have two teenagers so somewhere not too quiet. Going in July.

Lagos has a nice walk along the coast. Not sure if it's teenager friendly. Decent round of Pitch and Putt though

Vilamoura is between Albufeira and Faro, I really like the Hilton there. There is a really good waterpark nearby in one direction, and in the other, there is some nice oceanfront walking with lots of bars and restaurants.

If you're staying in the Hilton specifically then it is about 25-30 mins walk from the 'marina' area, and I think the marina area is similar enough to Benalmadena.

Bearing in mind that you don't want to be hours away from Faro airport, that would be my vote.

Maybe try Armacao de Pera, just west of Albufeira. It's much more 'Portuguese' than many of the usual resorts - one English bar, no Irish bar! - and half of Lisbon decamps there in the summer. English menus etc everywhere though. Lovely promenade. Food and drink prices much cheaper than Albufeira but it's within easy reach (you could walk there if you really wanted) if you fancy a change.

Quateira is just before Vilamoura, and is walking to the Marina there. You'll save yourself a few bob staying here. Small working town and not overly touristy.

Walked from Vilamoura to Quateria one day for lunch and food was less than half the price from what I remember!

Alvor would be my recommendation. Some nightlife, but not mad. Lovely beachfront walk and small village feel

I would echo this. I was in Alvor last Summer. It's a lovely place. Great food restaurants especially if you like fish.
