    Hi,

Has anyone experience of the extra magic hour in Disneyland?

I'm looking to book a trip for May and I have the option of two hotels. The Explorer which is not a Disney hotel or the Newport Bay which is. I know with the Newport I have access to this extra hour in the morning but it is 900 euro more. Seems a hell of a lot of money for 3 hours extra (staying 3 nights).

I think I can work around one morning by booking breakfast in a restaurant inside the Park.

    Thanks in advance

You seem to have boiled down the decision to it just being 900 quid for 3 days of the Magic Hour.

The magic hour is basically going to let you do a very popular ride without needing to queue for ages, or maybe 2 less popular ones. That might be of a lot of value to you seeing as some rides are going to have queues of an hour. What it is also going to let you do is figure out what rides your kids actually like and then you can queue up for those later on.

As for the price difference, well it isn't just the magic hour that costs more - The Newport Bay is a better hotel.

Also you need to factor in the ease of getting back to the hotel during the day - maybe you want to go back to the hotel in the afternoon to change clothes, drop stuff off, get some snacks. With the Newport Bay that's a 10-15 minute walk. With the Explorer you are basically forced to wait around for the shuttle.

Hi, thanks for the reply. 900 is a lot of money for me so I have to ask is it worth spending. I have never been before so have no idea. But you raise some excellent points that I really need to consider. No one likes queuing in fairness.

I'm not saying that it's definitely worth it, just wanted to raise some points that you left out that might be worth considering.

We usually stay in Sequoia lodge when we go which is a little cheaper than Newport bay. I read on one of the Disney Facebook pages today also that they're only allowing Disney hotel guests to book the early character breakfast so you may not be able to use that to get in early one morning.

Hi, yes and you were right to raise them. I appreciate it.
