Trade in price guides?

Hi, I have a Ford Fiesta 03 Diesel. I’m looking to soon trade it in for something newer. Not brand new. Just newer.

Im a bit unsure about trade ins and how they work, this will only be my second time buying a car, with the fiesta being bought off donedeal. Is there anywhere I can have a look at finding a rough trade in value so I can sort of figure out what I’ll be getting off the new car for when I’m browsing or is it a matter of ringing the garage and asking them for a guide price?

i suppose if any of you happen to have a notion that’s ideal as well. Car runs absolutely fine it’s only “issue” I guess is cosmetic there’s a few light scratches and that no deep ones just paint scratched off and the odd few dings. What you’d expect for 2003. Interior is very good no tears or anything in the seats or carpets and all dials, buttons etc are working as they should.

Before the shortage of used cars I would say €500-€1000 off another used car selling for €10k plus, nowadays it may be worth slightly more especially if it has NCT. You are best going in person to a dealer who has a car you are interested in buying and see what they offer.

If you are trading in a 2003 Fiesta you are basically getting nothing for your car.

Whatever the garage offers you, they would have given you as a discount if you negotiated a little. So they are basically getting your car for free.

For example, they offer you €500 for your car, but in reality they would have sold you the car for €500 less regardless.

Is there not a scrappage deal available for older cars which might give you a bit more than the actual value of your car?

As a trade in its worth nothing realistically, stick it up on donedeal for 800 quid.

I was coming on here looking for similar info and dont want to start a new thread so soon after this one was opened. OP I hope it is ok with you, you seem to have had a few answers to your query.

I have a 172 5 Series BMW that I want to sell straight or trade in. I dont know how to go about pricing it, I have seen similar on Done deal so that is a starting point. I am not sure what to accept as a trade in price with a dealer though. Am I better trying to sell private or go for a trade in and land in with a load of cash?

  • Yea no worries thanks for the responses so far also lads I think my best bet is trying to sell her private tbh

I’ll look into scrappage deals tho as well!
