Adobe reader not reading working correctly

I have a hp pavilion laptop. Bought 10 years ago and only used for browsing internet, Saving pics and business files. Lately my adobe reader isn't reading plans correctly to scale. Even when I go to use the reader, it stops at a certain point and won't move anymore then shows a circle with a stroke through it. I don't know…

Lately my adobe reader isn't reading plans correctly to scale. Even when I go to use the reader, it stops at a certain point and won't move anymore then shows a circle with a stroke through it.

I don't know if it's the adobe reader or my laptop so looking some guidance on what to do next. This issue is costing me jobs I'm trying to price so would like to rectify it as soon as possible.
