I’m trying to weigh up whether to trade in my A6 or not. I would like to upgrade my 2017 to 21/22 but I feel the trade in I’m getting is poor. I’m being offered circa 20k whereas the resale value seems to be about 26k+. Is this the norm? I’m wondering am I better off just holding onto it for another couple of years and just saving to upgrade in the meantime. The mileage is nearly 100k.

Seems like a normal enough trade in price. I’d imagine an Audi A6 would be easy enough to sell privately as they are quite popular. If dealers are selling them for €26k+ then you could probably expect to get around €23k for it privately

Is it 100k miles or km?

Is it S line or not. S line will be much more in demand and will get a much stronger price imo.

Hi mickdw, it is 100k km and it is SE - not s line. Maybe I am just abit naiive but is it appropriate that a dealer would be making 6/7k + from my trade in and potentially the same from a new/newer car sale? or is it just the car I'm selling/buying?

Some dealers are looking to make that kind of money on a trade in. Scandalous really.

Bmw appear to be worst offenders, looking for 10k on a deal albeit on slightly more expensive stuff in each case I've seen.

I'd sell private or at least try.

Similar cars are being sold for €24k to €25k. I think €20k as a trade in is more than fair. You wouldn’t get any more selling it privately, considering its not an S-Line
