    Hi,

Looking for any advice from previous or current owners regarding the Suzuki S Cross, for my daughter. She has sold her Toyota Yaris hybrid and has test driven a new S Cross full hybrid...automatic. On the road price €34,500. She is keen on the car and as a bonus they offer 0% pcp or 0% HP... I have no experience of this model, but it seems to be a nice car. Just wondering if anyone has any views on this model, good or bad.

    Thanks in advance.

    Jake

Being a Suzuki I’d assume it would depreciate quite a bit more than a Yaris. Trade in offers wouldn’t be great on it and it would probably be a bit harder to sell whenever that time comes.

I don’t know who buys stuff like the S-cross, they’re just a reheated version of the 2013 model, and they’re €30k

They seem a bit slow on paper too.

Has she looked at the Yaris Cross?

In 2021 I got S-Cross (previous generation) with 1.4 mild hybrid, automatic, 4wd.

Really nice car, but to be honest current generation except from different looks on the outside is pretty much same car, built on the same frame, looks very similar on the inside, etc.

Also full hybrid to me seems to be poor choice due to poor performance and very similar fuel consumption as mild hybrid, but much higher purchase price.

Only advantage over yaris cross is that it's a bigger, more spacious car. If that don't matter, I'd definitely go for yaris cross - mostly due to probably way better hybrid system (Toyota have been doing them for years now).

Reason I chose Suzuki, was purely that it was the cheapest option for very reasonable car that size with higher ground clearance, and very able 4wd system. There was nothing even similar at comparable price (maybe except from Duster, which I didn't like and 4wd being worse).

If you don't need 4wd, I'd probably be looking into Toyotas as Colm says.

Another question in these times is availability and waiting times for a new car.... Maybe here Suzuki comes better.

Thanks for the advice folks.. yes hadnt thought about the re-sale value, good point..Yaris Cross may be better, although the 0% PCP option was tempting. Thanks anyway..

This is an old hat model tarted up a bit and still charging top dollar for it too. There’s a reason they’re not popular- way overpriced and undesirable unremarkable cars. Almost anything would be better and more up to date

The Yaris Cross us 30k and its super. Its just a yards on stilts.

The S-Cross starts a lot cheaper than 30k. It is very well equipped and is bigger than the Yaris Cross.

It is quiet old do but if she likes it why should she not buy it?

    At OP.

    A Citroen C3 Air-Cross is a good car or a Renault Captuar.

Base model S-Cross is €29865, plus metallic plus delivery.

New model looks completely different then previous one and it's modern looks. Whether some people like it or not is a matter of personal taste, but you can't say it's not modern in design.

On the inside however, it's very very similar to previous model, and I'd say a bit dated.

1.4 Mild hybrid is very good engine - still 4 cylinder, pretty powerful for such car, and economical. I already said I'm not too fond of newer full-hybrid unfortunately.

Awe ye it was the Vitara I was thinking off. Still great value for the S-Cross do if all you want is a ĺot of equipment and a reliable car. A Kia Sportage or a Hyundai Tucson cost more than that now and they used to be cheap SUVs.

    They are not cheap anymore.

A Dacia Duster is about its only real competition price wise now.

Yeah to be fair it’s a fair size of a car, but unless you need that then there are nicer cars for €30k, like say a Captur, 2008, Mokka etc

the Duster is a relative bargain at €22k.
