We have a Kia Sportage Aug 2020 60K km Diesel Manual

Vehicle serviced on the button with main dealer.

Noticed clutch slipping during Christmas Holiday. Brought to main dealer and clutch was burnt out. No hitch, trailer work and only one driver 98% of time.

Are others having problems with clutches on Sportage ? Kia Ireland will not cover clutch under warranty!

A clutch is classed as consumable and not usually covered under a warranty for more than about a year. If your car is an August 2000 registration then it is 22.5 years old, it might be a little unreasonable to expect any warranty on it at this stage.

I have seen clutches needing to be replaced at 35k kms for info and that car was also serviced on the button with a main dealer. The car was 10 years old when the clutch went so there was no arguing for good will or warranty at that stage.

I suspect the OPs car is 2020, so between 2 and 3 years old.

It all depends on driving style.

It would be very easy to burn out a clutch over 60,000km if there was a lot of stop start driving and “riding” the clutch.

Ive seen people use the clutch on steep hills to hold the car in stopped traffic. A sure way of shortening it’s life.

No known issues with that year Sportage and clutches AFAIK. What type of driving is the car doing? City life and traffic will wear a clutch more quickly.

Like previous poster says, it's a wear and tear item UNLESS when they remove the clutch there is a manufacturing defect with it - at that stage the Kia dealer can make representation to Kia with photos and try to get it covered for you.
