My kettle was bought in Sept 2021 and has started intermittently cutting out when the water gets to 40 degrees. It's a Haden Jersey kettle and wasn't cheap (about €70) so I was expecting it to last a bit longer than this. It's used about 5 or 6 times a day, and I live in a hard-water area so it's descaled once a month, although we use filtered water in the kettle so I'm not sure if the filtering reduces the hardness. Google seems to suggest that descaling could solve it, but I've not had any luck. Would anyone have any suggestions or am I looking at getting a new kettle?

Descale it with a commercial product like Oust that's specifically designed for kettles and coffee makers. If that doesn't work, it's most likely faulty.

There aren't any user serviceable parts in a modern kettle, so I would suggest you take it back to the retailer and see if you can get anywhere with the warranty or try the manufacturer if the retailer won't help.
