Moving into a new build soon. What are the basics for kitting it out?

Is there a process that people follow with regard to each room in working around how they want it?

For instance, should I put down a timber floor in the sitting room before I know what kinda fireplace/furniture I'm putting in?

    Thanks

What will be included in the build?

Floors are probably the most important place to start, yes. You say a fireplace but you won't have a fireplace in a new build? You may choose to install a wood burning stove, but you'll have an A rated home and probably find you won't need that at all.

Floors, appliances, a bed and a sofa are probably the most important starting points. Floors go first, you can't put furniture in without floors (well, you could, but it would be a bad idea).

Choose floors that suit your lifestyle and budget. If you're choosing carpets, you may want to think about desired colour schemes, or else choose neutrals. If you're going with floorboards, consider whether you want laminate, engineered wood or real wood. If you have children and/or pets, consider carefully between carpets and floorboards.

Think about what the main things you use in your current home are, and start with them. You walk on floors all day, sleep in a bed every night, sit on a couch every day. If you never ever eat at a dining table, you can wait a while before buying one. If you desperately want custom blinds or shutters, then plan to order them ASAP as they take time, and stock up on cardboard/black bags to cover your bedroom windows in the meantime!

A huge amount depends on your lifestyle, family composition, what will already be in the house and what you already own, tbh.

Kitchen, doors, and two bathrooms done.

I won't be getting a fireplace per se but an electric/visual one maybe. Thanks for your measured reply. Appreciate it.
