Isolating mains to change mixer tap

    Hi all,

changing a mixer tap on kitchen sink. No isolation valves unfortunately so turned off mains via stopcock and hot feed from cylinder. Tap eventually stops running but when I try to remove braided line off cold/mains feed there is still pressure and water in the line despite the tap being open and dry. Any ideas? Possible water getting past the stopcock although surely it would continue from the tap if so?

    cheers

Is there much though? It could be residual water in the line. What if you let it run, does it peter-out?

The tap runs completely dry but once the nut is cracked open a half turn to remove the line, water starts coming out at a decent pressure. Took about 3 litres of water out and still no sign of it petering out
