Hi all, The AutoSave Draft feature is now disabled across the site. The decision to disable the feature was made via a poll last year. The delay in putting it in place was due to a bug/update issue. This should serve as a reminder to manually save your drafts if you wish to keep them. Thanks, The Boards Team.

Should I upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10/11 or just buy a new laptop?

Help! My laptop is working absolutely fine on Windows 8.1 however support ends next week. I see that Windows 10 support ends in 2025. Is it possible to upgrade to Windows 11 from Windows 8.1 on my laptop? My laptop is for light use only and I am not skilled to do an upgrade myself so trying to get an idea of cost efficiency and pc health of upgrading my own laptop v getting a new one ( which I had no intention of doing until I realised MS support for Windows 8.1 was ending).

My PC spec attached. I got it in 2014. light use only and it is working perfectly.

    All advise very welcome!

Should be possible to update to 10 and then 11 for free. Might need a clean windows install though.

Thank you DopeTech, not sure I have to where with all to do this myself ... I am not a tech head at all.

Nervous of loosing data and just getting lost in the process of it...

if you can do it yourself id upgrade a to somethong windows 11 compatable - intel 9th gen on would be the oldest you can do that

maybe even a second hand one up and running from adverts.ie or facebook would suit people not wanting to do set ups . ive set up a few laptops for people who wouldnt know how before

Upgrade to Windows 10 anyway. Windows 10 will be a step change from 8.1

Download the free Microsoft Health tool to check if your laptop is compatible with Window 11.

    Available on Microsoft Windows website.
