Taxing a Charitable Donation

I'm not sure if this the right forum but here's a shot.

I am in receipt of social welfare for over 10 years. My daughter has a neurologial disease (NF1) and juvenille arthristis so we are in the hospital a LOT for appointments and need a car. Our current vehicle is on the verge of breaking down and a mate advised me to start a GoFundMe page or a contact a charity to fund another vehicle. If something is donated to me, how should I go about the taxation for it? Is there a threshold amount that I don't need to pay taxes on??
