    Hey folks.

    I'm considering a 2016 x5 xdrive40e msport 2lts plug in hybrid.

I'm also looking at the 2ltr & 3ltr diesel Models.

I am aware of cost of tax etc.

Currently have a 2018 530e msport and don't want to change car but new baby arrived 4 weeks ago and boot space is an issue.

Ideally would like to stick with hybrid as I commute 4 days a week with a total of 25km a day. Then the other 3 days a week are very short journeys to shops, gym etc...

Was also looking at rav4 but they just don't seem alot for the money I'm paying. My cars is 32k trade in value so I'm looking for something around 43k max (I'll finance the 11k difference)

Anyone any experience of the x5 plug in? I would consider diesel but my mileage doesn't warrant the diesel engine and will cause DPF issues.

    Thank you folks.

    Congratulations 🎊

I would go with RAV4 and have more financial back up for the family.

My friend had 2017 X5. He sold it last year due to maintenance cost and new issues arising frequently.

Echo this, of all the cars in our work fleet the x5 one of the sales guys has causes the most problems by far. As did his previous x5. Way more than the couple of 5 series we have for whatever reason. I wouldn't own one out of warranty. They're also very overpriced compared to the likes of a 5 series touring which would give you the same space.

x5 is a world apart from the rav4 but at the same time your kid is going to wreck the car. At least in the Toyota you will care less. You will also have piece of mind re reliability. I do love German cars but I had a Toyota for a while and I did actually like it despite cheaper plastics etc. rav4 won’t be a phev unless you buy a new one.

Will be hard to move from a 5er to a rav4 imo.

Did you consider a 530e estate? I'd imagine that would suit your needs

What about a Lexus RX450h? It has Toyota reliability with BMW specs
