Oil Burner not kicking in.

    I have a reillo40 burner ,the last 2 days when starting first time it locks out (red light on burner) now when i press red button in for 3/4 seconds let go then kicks after about 30 seconds then boiler stays running, only have to do this once, any idea what could course this, im hoping it will keep working over Christmas because haven't a hope getting someone to look at it before then.

    My regular Guy not that reliable ,text him 2 months ago next time he is in the area can he service my boiler ,he replied will do, heard nothing since.

    If I was you I'd do a quick check by cleaning the photocell that detects the flame. Turn off the power and follow the first few steps of these instructions. Try just cleaning the lens and replacing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yT9XLATFBjs&t=49s

    As above. No need to remove the cell to clean it.

    Was it smoking recently?

    Is the shutter/flap on the right hand side opening during its attempt to start?

    No not smoking, haven't even noticed a shutter/flap always dark when trying to start it, will look in daylight.
