Calling all bodgers -- need a DIY fix for Audi Q3 parcel shelf

Hi all, my mam bought a 2012 Audi Q3 recently. The rear parcel shelf is missing a ball socket on one side. Audi don't sell them separately and the full shelf is between £200 and £300 on eBay which won't be a runner.

So, I'm looking to sort out a DIY fix for her. The part that's missing is highlighted in the image below. The ball that the socket goes into is present on one side of the boot so I'm thinking I need to get a socket from somewhere and attach it to the shelf.

Any suggestions for an xmas project? 😁

No dice. I've rang the ones I usually use; Summerhill Spares and those identified on partfinder.ie but no luck so far.

Can you take some good measurements of it? Or even a set of photographs from top/bottom/left/right?

If so, I could 3D print one (but would be Jan before I can do it)

Ive done something similar in the past on an old Hyundai that the parcel shelf has a similar setup.

Get a small L bracket.

Something like this.

Use self tappers to attach it to the piece thats left and washers to line it up. As long as it fits over the spud on the trim it would work out and will probably last a lot longer than whats there.

Might be a bit ugly but its underneath, If its noisy cover the spud with insulating or rubber tape. Or if the hole is big enough slide in a piece of rubber hose to make it tighter and less noisy.
