Safe to drill into concrete lintel to hang sliding doors?

We are installing sliding doors between two rooms and need to drill into concrete lintel which was installed when opening was knocked through years ago. It's a supporting wall. What are the considerations?

If you drill deep into the centre of the lintel, you might hit some of the metal rebar reinforcement, which'll blunt your masonry drill bit, but that's about the only worry you'd have.
