I saw this video on Facebook and mesmerised by the viscousity of of different types of oils. Link below:

    Now the question is.

I have Hyundai Tuscon HEV 1.6 Petrol. Dealer is changing oil every 15000 km. But noted some gear knocking (automatic transmission) when doing high revs on motorway.

    Would thicker viscousity oil help?

EDIT: not allowed to post Facebook link.

Hard to see how engine oil would affect the gearbox, if there's a gearbox problem, the fix will be either in the gearbox or the control system.

15w40 would also seem to be very viscous at lower temperatures for a modern engine, so slower to get moving on a cold start. Unless there's a manufacturers recommendation to use it in certain circumstances, I'd actively avoid it, particularly on a hybrid which may be running colder more of the time.

Don't change the oil type, or you may lose your warranty, a neighbour has a similar car, 221reg, which was making a clicking sound when driving, it needs a new gearbox and the garage have given her a courtesy car

    Thanks.

Perhaps it's the really cold winter phenomenon.

I will wait and see if it gets better in few months.
