Heat pump real world cost.

    Hey

I was trying to find out what the real world cost of running a heat pump is.

I can only really find anecdotal information on there cost to run. So I have a new built house. Built to A2 energy rating. 3 bed 2 bathroom. 6 heating zones for underfloor heating .

have a fire bird heat pump think it’s there 5kwh pump.

im running the heating at night at the cheaper electricity rate of 26c kWh. But I’m still using 20-30kwh just to heat the house in this cold weather. stats are set to 20.5c . Seems expensive. I know the pumps are less efficient in cold weather but curious to know what it’s costing other people who have a similar configuration.

I know turning the stats down to 19c would save money but I’m still curious as to other people’s experience.

    thanks

Does the way you are running the hp deliver sufficient heat?

Assuming you have an air to water hp(?)

Not really answering your question but back of the envelope calcs* suggest that the oil equivalent cost per kWhr to deliver the same amount of heat is approx 30c so if you are comfortable and given the cold snap currently, your hp running cost is less than an oil system, just.

*(Hp CoP of 2, oil system efficiency 75%)
