Small van

Hello all,. I normally commute on a motorbike (120km round trip) but shift patterns in work are changing and the odd day on 4 wheels is what I'm looking at. Already have a family 7 seater so I'm looking for something practical for myself. I'm looking for a small van I can throw junk into for the recycling yard or pick up bulk items (washing machine etc) the odd time. The key is reliability. I've no experience with vans or even if I can get normal insurance on one? A 2 seater style van will do. Budget is not great. Between 4 -5k what should I be looking for? Probably won't be ready to buy until Spring

    Thanks all

Berlingo if you can find a 2.0HDi. If I was spending €5,000 on a van for use round

the house and somewhere to store it I would go for a Citroen Dispatch 2.0HDi.

Bench seat in the front to take 2 passengers.

Fiat Fiorino, Citroen Nemo or Peugeot Bipper would be my suggestions - small engines so you would be minimising your tax spend if you couldn't tax commercially, and very economical. Payload might be a bit smaller, but still capable for something like a washing machine, etc

I’d just buy a car, most of them will take a kitchen appliance. I had a washing machine and dishwasher in the back of my old civic. Feck commuting in a van. Get a comfy car.

To add to above you need to factor in private tax on a 1.6 van will be 514 euro plus annual CVRT comes in at 111 e.

For big and dirty loads if you decide to go for a car a trailer is an option.

Some very good suggestions. I really liked the Citroen Nemo or Peugeot Bipper. They seem ideal. After giving it some more thought and looking into the pros and cons of a small van Ive decided its not for me at the moment. I dont need the space too often and I have no dog at the moment and most likely wont next year either { this was a big reason for wanting a small van}. Thanks for the info all
