Thermal camera to see heat loss performance

I saw the library has a kit but it’s just a digital thermometer and some other basic gadgets available to borrow.

One of the U.K. Eneergy companies will give a loan of a FLIR thermal camera for free for a few weeks.

Anything similar in Ireland ? Keen to see my roof and windows.

Your local library should have a kit including a camera if you can get it available for free!

Picked this up a few weeks back https://offers.kd2.org/en/ie/lidl/petlh/ and it does in fact work (didn't expect it to) but it also did nothing but pi$$ me off when pointing at the cold doors etc, this week

This is similar to what is in library kit. Probably would do the job albeit not the roof.

They are dropping quickly in price. You can buy a usable 32x24 pixel sensor based one now for cheap:

The one in the library just looks like a Black and Decker Thermal Leak Detector. I have one and it works fine for some uses.

But a Flir camera or similar for your phone looks like a much better option for the roof and windows.

Yeah, library one doesn't include a thermal camera. I borrowed one a few months back. Has a laser infrared thermometer which you can move around to see temp changes on a digital display. It's deffo worth using that too to get a sense of wall temps, doors, windows..... So a good starting point. I bought one myself for about €25 afterwards. I noticed one wall that gets damp in the bottom corner has a lower temp than the rest of the room. So I've to check why that is. But know I now it needs to get checked.
