No VRT if they have owned it for more than 6 months. Easy swap of papers.

May not have to register the car if they're staying here for less than 12 months but you need to check this.

Unless they need it to transport personal items it would be a lot cheaper and more convenient to buy a car when you get here. Tell your mate to look on donedeal.ie to get an idea on prices.

As said above insurance may be pricier depending, so tell them to get a couple of online quotes to get an idea.

It's about €500 to drive from Greece to Ireland before you book ferries, along with nearly 40 hours driving time. To get it transported will be a lot more. For a 15 year old LHD Panda that's a lot of hassle.

Insurance, with a left hand drive car, no Irish no claims bonus, will be expensive, that is if you can find an Irish insurance company that will quote on a 15 year old car for a new customer.

I suspect you will either be declined quotes and have to go down the declined quotes process route or b quoted silly amounts - as in, we're not interested so here's a silly number to encourge you to try a different company.

Unless it's a 100HP or 4x4, you'll get one here cheaper then the total cost of bringing over and insuring a LHD.

If it is a 100HP, it's hard enough getting RHD spares at this stage so LHD could be impossible here!
