Fix broken floor lamp?

I have the crane type floor lamp below and the base will no longer attach to the top arm (bottom brass bit wont screw into the black neck). It seems such a waste to bin it. It sometimes got loose and it always just screwed back in but not any more. It just keeps on turning. I assumed it might be worn metal threads but I can't tell for sure. I have tried putting in cocktail sticks, plumbers tape and even 'no more nails' glue.

Is there anything else I can try? Would a small bit of epoxy glue be worth a try? TIA

Nothing to be lost by mixing up a bit of plastic metal epoxy resin putty and putting it around the thread and the nut and leaving the whole thing to cure for a couple of hours (preferably longer). Good preparation helps if you can clean off or even sand the areas where you'll put the epoxy it will stick better. If there is any thread at all left plastic metal will stick to it.

I'd use something like this for convenience https://www.amazon.co.uk/Waterproof-Repair-Pellets-Ceramic-Plastic/dp/B07BVGD3Y6 but there are loads of similar products that ones expensive for what you get but you probably only need one pellet. I keep something similar on hand for minor repairs as they have it every so often in Lidl at a good price.

Wake me up when it's all over.

Tec7. Get the black adhesive one unless you know your epoxies

Have you opened up the bottom of the base?

It might just be that the inner has come loose so its all spinning when you try to tighten in.
