Retrofitting a Vaulted Ceiling - Costs and Considerations

We're about to embark on a renovation, feels wrong to call it a renovation as the property was built in 2004 but there are a number of design flaws that stop the property from 'flowing'.

One area under review is a single storey room that protrudes out the rear, I guess it looks like an extension but was purpose built.

The room space is currently divided into 3 areas, a main 'dining room' a 'utility room' and a 'WC' - Our plan is to knock the partition walls and strip the space to create an open 6m x 6m room.

It has a gable roof with attic space, complete waste IMO - we think a vaulted ceiling with large glass panes will really open the room up, let loads of light in and make an amazing space for a kitchen come dining room.

Does anyone have any experience of retrofitting vaulted ceilings, the trusses would need alteration and a structural engineer is no doubt required. However, for an initial point of view wondered what others had done, any ideas on costs, pro's con's experienced. It is currently heated via underfloor heating system but conveniently completes two zones of the underfloor so wouldn't really be too much of a concern.

I got a much smaller job done recently but absolute ballpark I'd say €30k not including a kitchen or tiler.

It's pretty much involving every trade except the block layer.

It could be €50k all in including Kitchen, tiles, light fittings, curtains, dining room table, tv etc.

Was this in relation to a vaulted ceiling, as that's structural engineer territory and my fear of costs here is high :)
