Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Metal or plastic gears?

What is your preferences re gears? From what I understand plastic gears should be less noisy and same reliability as metal but intuitively metal should be better? Is there a case when you would prefer plastic gears over metal ones and vice versa? Does metal gears are better only with harder springs where very high torque…

Plastic gears in a gearbox? Not in a million years. I would use stainless steel or metal gears all the way. Gears like SHS or G&G are very good for the majority of airsoft guns and you get what you pay for and for the higher stress builds Siegeteks are the best on the market.
