    I don't think so.

With money being worth so little these days, a tenner would be the bare minimum i'd expect to pay for someone to come and collect me and a friend at a time and place that I want.

Saying that, I haven't gotten a taxi in cork in years so I'm out of the loop a fair bit.

If it was a licenced taxi cab it would have had a meter in it, was that the metered fare?

There is a minimum charge for just sitting into the taxi, and then the journey is charged by the km or by the minute (presumably whichever is the greater) and I think there are extra charges for more than 1 passenger.

Doesn't sound beyond the beyonds, tbh.

It's always worth keeping an eye on the meter, and I always ask for a receipt.

Looks like you just got lucky with the €9 fare.

Sometimes drivers don't charge all the extras they are entitled to charge.

Perhaps this is why the second taxi was cheaper.

Your €11 fare was also on a Sunday, which attracts a premium. I didn't ask about that though, I asked about whether the €9 fare was before or after 8pm, you only specified "last night". You've now clarified that though. After 8pm also attracts a premium. The number of passengers also matters. You don't give enough information in your posts for us to guess at it, but I'd say it's all perfectly fine and above board. TFI have a taxi fare estimator, I'd advise you to use it going forward.
