Potential VRT Rebate ‘Windfall’?

Hi .Sorry if this was answered before.I did a quick search . About two year ago I bough a Dec 192 small warm hatch (€280 tax rate )and paid 16750. It was about 22k list new but very few were sold .

It was an NI Import , demo plus one irish owner whom I bought it off .I did a full online history search with both its reg numbers and all good .

i bought at under a year old and 800miles and now it has 30k miles

If I sold this up North eg traded it in to dealer would I potentially qualify for a tidy multi thousand euro VRT rebate ? I’d imagine I’d get about 10k Sterling for car and rebate might close a fair bit of gap to my original outlay ?

So do you bring it to an NCT centre to get a ‘valuation’ and they tell you how much you ‘qualify’ for ? Is there an amount eg ‘first €500’ that they disqualify ?

Presumably there’s little chance they’d say ‘the vrt was never paid on this and you owe us thousands in fees and penalties’ ?! You couldn’t ‘fake’ NI to ROI registration could you ?

At what stage is it ‘binding’ and you can’t change your mind and’keep it down South’?

Revenue VRT calculator for importing a car is the same for exporting it. That’ll give you the figure you’ll get back AFAIK.

For the rest, you might need a customs agent to sort you out with all that.
