    Any thoughts on green roofs?

We have flat roof and a mono-pitch at 22 degrees and would like both covered in green roof/sedum - but don't know if cassette based or coconut mat based would work.

Thoughts: Structural survey, are either roof designed to withstand the load/weight? Consider rainwater downpour & snow load also. Check your home insurance also. Cassette based mandatory for pitched roof I would imagine, but talk to suppliers and see what systems they recommend? How to irrigate during a 7-8 week dry spell? Fire risk?!

It's a glue-laminated timber roof specified to hold a green roof but keeping it irrigated in a dry spell is something I need to think about.

(Probably rainwater but and small dc pump off a solar panel...?)
