Car history check - mileage discrepancy?

Looking at buying a car and this is the mileage record. In the year 19-20 it appears to only have covered 1700 miles.

Seems to early to be COVID related.

It stands out as a bit of a red flag for me as it implies it was off the road for some reason but the flat spot on the graph doesn't seem too bad, nor does the vcheck site which gives it a pass in this section.

Would you be put off by this mileage or would you not be worried given that it was done plenty of mileage since meaning any repair is obviously done to a decent standard

No issues there, most likely a covid thing or working from home.

If you are implying that the car was off the road due to being crashed then that is highly unlikely. It doesn’t take 2 years to repair a car.

Ye, too early to be Covid so could be anything. I'm sure there's a reason, something like coming off a lease or left lying up for a while in the trade. How many previous owners? I presume nothing else popped up on your check regarding write-offs etc. Looks like it failed its first MOT also.

The 'low mileage' dates are for 1 year between March 2019 and March 2020, Covid restrictions only started in the UK in March 2020.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Could’ve been working aboard for the year, sickness or injury prevented driving, many reasons. It went back to normal usage after that so I wouldn’t be concerned. If the car checks out otherwise, go for it.

Also, best of luck with it if you buy it 🙂

Yeah it seemed unusual that the period of low use was in the middle of owner 2's time with the car

Yeah the first MOT failure was for brake pads & tyres, so both consumable items that will have been replaced a few times by now! No worries from that

What does the service history say?

Don't know yet, dealer says 'full history' but wasnt aware of the gap in usage and will 'look into it'.

Its a BMW so history will be on idrive too, would it have details if repairs though (if carried out by BMW)

Could be a medical thing. Any type of brain surgery has you off the road for 6 months, any type of seizure has you off the road for 12
