Hey all, looking for some advice .Built my house coming on 20 years ago. At the time the boundary ditch with a neighbours field was basically non existent in places so I banked it up with clay. But what I did not take into account was that I was blocking the natural flow of water. We are on a gentle slope.Roll on a few years and after a blast of heavy rain, the water backs up at the other side of the ditch and finds it way into my property and runs between my house and garage into my septic tank man holes filling up my septic tank.To remedy this I dug a hole in the bank and put in a 6 inch pipe to take away the water and back filled the bank. It works a treat.My neighbour spotted the pipe and had a go at me.I explained what it was for and taught all was ok.Until over the last few weeks I spotted the neighbours blocking up the pipe. I asked them what was their issue and they said I did not ask their permission to put in the pipe. They also ranted on about us planting trees on ditches without asking and for tidying up a small overgrown section of my garden , that I have changed the aspect of their view when they walk the field .What is one to do in this situation!!

Where does the water go out of the pipe? Into his field or into a ditch?

Down my driveway!! The pipe takes the water from his field and out onto my driveway which I dont mind as it is better than filling my septic tank

If he's blocking up the pipe is it stopping the water from running into your driveway

Dig a hole your side of the boundary where the water flows in to your property and have the pipe starting there instead of in the bank, he can't interfere with it on your property

Yes if he blocks the pipe it won't flow down my driveway, but instead backs up and comes in another way filling my septic tank.I want it to flow down my driveway, which is loose stone and does not bother me. I am basically draining their field but they have an issue with it.

This sounds like the simplest solution.

Easiest way is to talk to them. Probably some thing you should have done in the first place.

I tried that yesterday, there is no talking to them. There is no history there, I have always dealt with them with kid gloves before to avoid hassle as they have a reputation.

I still would have a collection point for the water coming in and pipe it away before it gets to your septic tank, Even to put a pipe straight across your site It should be simple to do.

If your property is below his property you just have to deal with the water coming in.

I suggest you plant some trees with loads of leaves that will blow onto his field and drive the b*stard mad. Regular fcuking Rumplestiltskin by the sounds of it.
