Worked full time until Sept, unemployed since: Is there some kind of tax back I can claim

A couple of people have told me that in my circumstances I can claim back the tax I have paid this year due to being unemployed at the end of he calendar year. I know nothing of this. Can anyone provide some information as to whether this is true (I know next to nothing about tax). I was probably paying getting taxed about 150 a week while working

You wouldn't have used your full allocation of tax credits for the year, so file a 2022 tax return in January and it will tell you if you overpaid income tax. If you did then Revenue will refund you.

If you have been unemployed for 4+weeks with no other income or 8+weeks on job seekers you are entitled to claim tax back in the year and don't have to wait til year end.

You need to login to your MyAccount and there should be a 'Claim unemployment repayment' option under PAYE services. Fill in the necessary details and revenue will assess.
