    Ok

Have Philips monitor and works with desktop pc when WFH and also have Dell Monitor and this works. However Mrs Gunner has laptop from work and I can connect Philips monitor and it works ok with this and picks up second monitor but with Dell monitor it does not?

Anything to check to see what the issue is with Dell as works with Desktop, my laptop but not Mrs Gunner work laptop?

Is it that laptop does not recognize monitor or there is no picture? On laptop check display settings: resolution(try to reduce), extend/duplicate settings

Is the same connection used for your PC and laptop to Dell? What is it you use? See if correct input source selected on monitor for each

Are you trying to set TWO EXTERNAL displays at same time on laptop and one is not working? Does laptop support multiple displays? Make/model?

Yes it mirrors the screen on the laptop but just cannot extend it. When go into settings and display only shows one screen when connected via hdmi to laptop. However when using philips monitor does detect it and don't change any settings on laptop? Is a levovo laptop not sure of model

Try Fn+F8 on the laptop and see what happens.

model should be on the label or you could read it from

    RUN>>> msinfo32

If you have this, then is set to duplicate, dropdown allow to select diferent layout. Same should be achievable by Win+P or, as per above post Fn+F8
