Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Pensioners have a tax free allowance of 36,000. This limit has not been increased for several years. Can anyone tell me when this 36,000 limit was first introduced?

    It's 36k for a couple, and 18k for a single person

I am of no help when it comes to when it was introduced, just wanted to note that

I believe it went to €36000 for a couple in 2018

Pedantic correction: it’s not a tax-free allowance, it’s an exemption threshold - you pay no tax if your income does not exceed that number. But if your income is above that number, normal taxation applies.

In fact, since the introduction of tax credits, there is no longer such a thing as a tax-free allowance.
