    Hi there,

Just curious to know if anyone has visited Tromso in Norway and has any last min travel tips?

I'm a landscape and nature photographer on the side and hoping to catch some whales and northern lights later next week on a few days jaunt. I've seen the Aurora in Iceland a few years back and have been mesmerized since.

    Cheers

    Dave

I was there last year and really loved it. The weather wasn't great for seeing the aurora in Tromso when I was there, very cloudy and wet. There's organised lights chasing tours and there's a few spots in Tromso free of light pollution where you can chance seeing them. We did see the aurora one night on a tour but it was weak and we were well over an hour away from Tromso itself. If you go up the Fjellheisen cable car you'll get great views out over Tromso and the fjord. I did speak to a couple who arrived in Tromso a few days before me and they told me they got a great view of the aurora from up there.
