Has anyone got a Ring security alarm system with outside siren? Looks like a good option for long term cost. Are there any Irish installers or would any electrician be capable?

Do you mean one of theses?

We got one as part of our package. The whole system is easy to install. The siren runs on batteries so you can install yourself, no need for an electrician.

I thought the security system was wired? So it's all battery based then. Interesting. I thought I'd need some wiring and drilling.

I installed a Ring system in my place about 6 weeks ago. All wireless, no drilling, even the window and door sensors can attached with adhesive pads if you want. The only wired elements are the base station and keypad.

Took a few hours to take the old one out and install and test the Ring, very happy with it.

If I buy the kit with the 10 euro a month subscription, is it a monitored, cellular enabled option with battery backup ?

So without a subscription you get basic monitoring with the app, battery backup, but no cellular backup.

With the €10 sub, in addition to the above, if the alarm is triggered it will automatically call three numbers you set of family/friends/neighbours + you get cellular backup and 30 days storage of video from Ring cameras.

I'd note that the "monitoring" is basic and is just automtically calling people, it isn't monitored by an actual person and wouldn't call the Gardai or anything like that.

I am interested in DIY installation of RING system. I am in Dublin in standard 1950s 3b s/d with garage to side. Can anyone give me some guidance.

1 How does it compare with a professional installed systems such as HKC. 2 Is cellular backup necessary. 3 Has anyone installed External Siren - particularly in external insulation. 4 Is external camera with light a good idea. 5 Is there any support available from Ring. 6 If there is a problem is it possible to get someone in Dublin to look at it.
