Hi all

It's that time of year

Someone posted up a link last year of a head torch . They were around 20-30 e I bought 2 but cannot find them now.

Usually buy 2 to last the season

Any ideas

But a good one for 100 euros, will last years.

I got a fenix one about 3 years ago for 90 euros, still going. Get one that has rechargeable batteries.

I bought a Cheetah last week, happy with it, nice and light with the battery at the front so no long wire going to the battery at the back of your head which usually ends up getting pulled out and the torch giving up i found.

Handy if u have one that takes standard AA batteries , you can use rechargeable AA batteries.No waiting on recharging.

Energizer do great little headlamps if u want something about 25 euro , get the bright one 400-450 lumens

Better torches mentioned u suppose if u want to spend more

I'll be saving for one them 1200 actual lumens as against most of the fake lumens on the cheap headlamps

I tried them all and finally went and bought a cheetah three years ago.....it the only one to buy.

Excellent battery life on it and includes a plug charger and a cigarette lighter charger so you never get caught out....when it gets low on power it dims to extend the life so you get lots of warning of a low battery rather than instant darkness !

Check out the Petzl range of headlamps, not cheap but top quality and waterproof which is very important in Irish winter weather, made in France they're very popular with mountain rescue folk, cavers, potholers etc. I have a Petzl Pixa 3R 90 cost over €120.00 but cheaper in the long run than paying €20 a pop and having to bin them after one season. The top of the range ones costs over €750.00!...you 😉could always write to Santa or drop a hint coming up to Xmas😊

Ya petzl is definitely a top brand

Some of the nitecore stuff is amazing but they do have the issue of short battery life on the highest settings

I have an olight headlight. It's basically a small torch that you clip on to a headband. It's very light and has a magnetic charger. This is my third winter using it and it's still perfect. My vet was very impressed with it when he saw it last winter, he said he was after going through several different types. I think it was either €80 or £80 at the time but it came with 2 other torches in the pack that I haven't even used yet.

Boruit B30 here, not expensive but great light, decent battery life and usb rechargable... Got as a gift but think it was amazon purchase..
