    Hi all,

Looking at buying a 2017 530e, anyone recommend or should I stay away? I note the electric motor will do up to 45 km which is probably more like 30km realistically. This would suit my commute to and from work.

How are the hybrid batteries in these? Any good after 5+ years? I note the tank is quite small and its a 2 litre petrol engine so likely to guzzle petrol. I get around 40mpg in my current car so if I got the same from the petrol engine in this, I'd be happy.

    Feedback is welcome!

I like them and if they suit you, go for it.

There's a big thread on the 530e here somewhere, it has a lot of owners contributing on it. Your consumption figures for both electricity and petrol are optimistic though I feel, will do 30 kms on electricity and 40mpg on petrol in the most ideal circumstances only, which are unlikely to occur very often.

Probably closer to 20 electric in the real world. It does take the edge off the overall fuel consumption. Short spins are where the savings are, long spins (Cork - Dublin) hover around tue 40mpg mark.

I do about 800km a week in one and long term average since getting it is 50mpg equivalent calculated - this is also allowing for electricity costs. For a big car that’s pretty decent and allows the flexibility for long spins where chargers are unavailable.
