Width of gap under decking fence

We got a new raised deck put up recently but the gap below the fencing is quite large and dangerous for the kids. I'm wondering what the regulations are around this. It's currently around 12-12.5 cm in places. I found on UK regs somewhere that it should be below 10cm. Is this the same here? I've included a photo to illustrate the gap I'm speaking off.
