Insurance for young driver

    My son is doing his driving lessons at the moment and is currently looking to buy his first car. Is there a type of car that is cheaper to insure than others? There are loads of cheap cars out there, but they won't be cheap if the insurance companies don't like them!

    Insurers tend to favour something fairly modern with small engine I believe.
