Which Xbox to buy?

Hi all, I need to buy my son a new Xbox for Christmas. We have an Xbox one for a number of years now but there is a disc stuck in the machine that we cant get out & quoted €100 for repair before parts so can't see it being worth it.

He mainly plays Fortnite, Fifa 22 and a racing game that I can't think the name of.

I know black Friday is next week so I'm hoping there will be a few deals to be got. Do I buy the Xbox series S or Series X? He will probably get a Gamepass as a present off someone else.

There's no definitive answer really, all depends on their requirements.

Both consoles can play all the same games, but they will look and run better on the Series X (assuming you have a 4k TV)

Also, it's worth pointing out the Series S does not play disks, so if they want to be able to still play any disks they own then the X is the only option really.

If none of the above is a concern, then I would get the Series S as it's a good bit cheaper.

SX if you can afford it and before MS put up prices due to inflation etc. It should be able to play the latest games for longer than the SS. Plus you have the option to buy disk games on sale, play disks you already have. Graphics etc are better especially if you have a decent 4K TV. Also has twice the storage.

Prices are based on paying with Revolut in GBP based on todays exchange rate.

Prices are gone up a bit since Christmas. They even mention this on the Microsoft/Xbox webpage.

Thanks A2LUE42, amazon.co.uk website charges import fees, any way of getting around this? Not sure amazon.de does or not.

Import fees are added but UK VAT is removed. You can see the final price you'll be charged in the basket - for example the one advertised for £238 will cost £244 which is not really much of a difference.

Prices I listed are the delivered to Ireland prices with fees and vat. But using revolut to get a good exchange rate, but that tends to be a couple of euros only
