December 24 Evening Flight from Spain to Dublin?

    Hey all,

I live in Spain (an hour away from both Alicante and Valencia) and would only be able to travel back to Dublin in the evening of Christmas Eve.

Looking at Ryanair, all flights leave mid morning (which I wouldn’t be able to make).

Probably a mute question but does anyone know if there’s a way to get back with an evening flight? Happy to do connections if needed.

Thought I’d ask here before I right it off completely.

    Cheers in advance.

skyscanner should give you all available connections. However it would appear there are no options, unless your definition of evening is quite early.

Dublin Airport closes ~1130 on Christmas Eve; or at least if nothing is delayed. That would be the last sched flight in.

That has you needing to leave Spain no later than ~8pm Spanish time on a direct, and hours earlier for a connection. Latest I've found quickly is Valencia-Heathrow-Dublin leaving at 3pm.

Yeh, I found Valencia - Bilbao - Dublin leaving VAL at 16:00. Might be too tight unfortunately but checking that out. A 7pm direct flight would have been the bees knees 😂😂😂

    Live near Denia .?

Leaving it till evening of Christmas eve is making your options extremely limited.

Yep I live in Denia. My partner is working on Christmas Eve and doesn’t finish until 2pm. The best ‘potential’ solution I can see is to fly with Vueling from Valencia to Bilbao at 4PM and then Aer Lingus from Bilbao to Dublin (arriving into Dublin at 19:30). Might be cutting it too tight though.

Not worth the hassle and stress.

Take a leisurely trip on the 26th with an afternoon flight and sitting at home about 7pm

I was going to suggest taking the Ave from Valencia to Madrid and then the 17.50 to Heathrow with a connection to Dublin... but i think the times are too tight

Something else to remember is that a missed connection far away from Spain is probably going to leave you stuck there. Minimal flights anywhere on the 25th.

Don't take any short connections with checked bags containing stuff you expect to see again (well, again soon - most bags do turn up but there's still a lot of problems)

Going on 26th might be a less stressful better option. I've been to Denia about 3 times. Friends have an apartment there, nice spot. Do they still build the bullring down near the harbour for the festival ?

Haha, they do indeed. The bull ring was there during the summer for the first time since 2019. Yeh, I love it here!

We need to be back on the 26th too unfortunately. My partners working on the 27th 😂. It’s one of those things I suppose. Damned if I do, damned if I don’t 😂

Hardly worth all the hassle for 1 day though , Maybe your partner's new year resolution should be ....change job and have a few Christmas holiday days off 😉

    Haha maybe

What are the chances of extra flights being added i.e. does it ever happen?

Looking at Alicante to Dublin with Ryanair, every other day apart from Dec 24 they have a flight leaving at 17:15 which arrives into Dublin at 19:15. This is literally the perfect flight 😂.

At this stage it would be exceedingly unlikely

Is this connection in Bilbao doable with hand luggage? (Would need to check in there too)
