Looks like Eir/Gomo have launched a global esim to allow the purchase on data addons per per country.

€19.99 for 15GB USA data isn’t bad.

Frankly, for Europe you could get an Iliad sim (Iliad being GoMo's parent company) for a fraction of the price of a GoMo sim here and with way more data and ALL calls and texts included, including calls and texts abroad (but not to premium numbers, for obvious reason).

Just heard about this and signed up while on holiday in the US. It’s a game changer for travel outside of the EU. Seamless process to sign up in app too.

Hopefully an indication that Eir will launch their own esim for Ireland soon.

Am I right in thinking you don't need a dual sim phone to use this? You keep your gomo SIM (or whatever network you are on) and just sign up for this.

No, while it's using the same name as GoMo it's completely separate from GoMo itself, what you are talking about is like an add on to your current account with GoMo. GoMoWorld is just an eSIM just for data it doesn't give you calls or texts as you don't get a phone number [1]. You need a device that has an eSIM. I've used it recently as I went outside the EU and it was pretty convenient until I got a local sim. It also gives you an Irish IP address as you are using eir APN settings if that is any interest to anyone.

Presonally think getting an esim from a local network when you land in the country is the cheapest (when outside the EU).

Personally I'd get it along with a local SIM. As when I'm in the airport I just want to get my bearings and having data on my phone helps a lot. Just make sure to buy the package before you leave and you will need internet to activate the plan too so keep that in mind.

I've went with a smart(the Filipino network) esim and will just add my credit to it

Works out about €6.50 for one month, much better value

i bought the gomoworld e sim 30 day USA plan, as travelling to the US next week, i didn’t start the plan but installed esim, and now i cannot make or receive phone calls on my ireland mobile network, i have the esim turned off but looks like i have been totally disconnected from my Ireland network

This product is so overpriced compared to buying a local e-sim. It is pushed by some travel bloggers who don't even realise what they are peddling.

There's a few similar to gomoworld on the market at the moment but gomoworld seem to be the cheapest of them. For example they have a USA plan for 35GB/30days costing €20 which I might avail of next time I go over for 2 weeks

Yes it does. But finicky to get going in general at the start in my experience but works fine for everything after the setup.
