Airtricity reneging on government credit-disgraceful

Our Airtricity bill of €124 was due today and they did take the DD 😡 Many attempts over the last week to contact them to get it verified that the government credit would be applied. This is disgraceful. While the bill is relatively small we are both on disability and my partner is in hospital for treatment for a recently diagnosed terminal cancer. We have enough bills coming at us and thought the electricity would not be a worry, but they in effect stole it from us. Ok we may get a credit down the road but we were budgeting according to what the government announced. Other providers have applied the credit as it should from Nov 1st

Your bill issued, I take it, 10 days or more ago if the DD has gone through. The credits are being applied from 1st November. The timing is just unfortunate for yourselves. They have stolen nothing, in effect or otherwise.

The credit was designed for November.

Your bill was for sept / Oct.

Direct debit files are sent to banks about 10 days in advance

OP - there is no reneging here. just bad timing. your allegations are the only disgraceful thing about the entire affair.

If you were budgeting based on your assumption that the credit would cover sept/oct bills you really should have validated that assumption. Its unfortunate but it is quite clear on their website.

Ok, thanks for comments but how come many other people on here report their accounts credited on Nov 1st. Whatever we just have to get on with it.

I would imagine your account was credited on 01st November. This will then come off your next bill.

When your bill for €124 was issued, there was no credit there to come off it.

What's the issuing date & billing period dates on your bill? I'm fairly certain they will be pre 1st November dates.

Even if your account had been credited on November 1st, your bill was already due and queued for payment,
