Sorrento as a family destination.

Hello all, we have a family wedding next September in Ravello and plan to stay there for a few days, but would like to add a week and stay somewhere on the coast. We will be travelling with two children ages 9 and 6. We will have a car so am happy to stay anywhere along the coast. I would like a family friendly, pretty town with access to a sandy beach. We would like to tour around the area and see PositanoCapriPompeii etc but as we will have our own car, transport links aren’t a major concern. I’m worried some of the towns may be a bit dull for kids and I know Sorrento would probably be one of the liveliest spots but I am wondering if the lack of sandy beaches is a bit of a deal breaker with kids. Are the beaches still nice even though they are stone? Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions.

We went to Sorrento last summer with our kids (11,15,17) & stayed at Residenza la Neffola, I would highly recommend this campsite. We rented one of their apartments, it was large, clean, had good aircon and the restaurant, pool etc onsite were excellent. We only stayed 2 nights but we are sorry we didn't stay longer.

We also had a car & they had loads of parking. We did drive down as far as Positano, it was a long slow drive. We had hoped to drive further but we only had the 1 day so that was far enough.

There wasn't a great beach in Sorrento, but the walk from the campsite down to the waterfront was only about 10 mins.

We stayed in La Neffola for a week about 17 years ago & it was a great spot, the ability to walk out the back gate & into town in 10 minutes is a huge bonus

Thanks so much for the replies. I had Neffolla on my list, but unfortunately the pool is closed next summer so that’s kind of a deal breaker. But there are a few apartments with pools within walking distance from the town. Your replies have made up my mind, Sorrento sounds like the spot for us!
