    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for new oil burners and a rough idea of the cost involved.

The one that is in the house is very old and I think the rads and the tank in the hot press all need replacing as well.

    Thanks in advance.

not exactly the best time of year to be undertaking such a big job

get a good boiler man to service your boiler and see will it get you to the spring time

    whereare you based

Put up a photo. If it's just the oil burner that spews flames they are easily swapped. If it's the whole box and water tank and pipes it's a bigger job. If your old burner is non condensing then a new condensing burner will be relatively more efficient but may be bigger and will need to drop water into a drain downhill.

It's hard to estimate based on your description, as suggested maybe get it serviced and get advice and a few quotes. Check if mains gas is available on the street as generally that van be cheaper and cleaner and does not need an oil tank but gas prices are crazy and may be cut off this winter.

Hi, thanks for your reply. i think it is a very old Firebird and it would be the whole thing that needs replacing. I've heard that the condensing ones were better so I'd be looking for that I'd say.

In similar position, have an old firebird oil burner that needs replacing, installed new about 27 yrs ago, think may have been replaced by an identical 2nd hand boiler a few years ago, it’s in an outdoor shed with flue currently out through the galvanised roof sheeting.

100% sure it needs replacing as it’s been unserviceable for past 2 years but our service man said to leave it stay going until it stops, he couldn’t understand how it was still working!

It’s a small 2 bed terraced cottage with 5 radiators, Stanley stove with back boiler also installed in the house. Hot press with insulated copper cylinder in bedroom & cold water tank in attic, stats on radiators.

Whats the best, most efficient, most reliable, serviceable replacement boiler to replace it with?

It’s a rental property with an excellent tenant so want to put in the best available oil boiler, gas not an option.

    TIA
