Bought a pair of headphones on amazon just over 2 years ago. They wouldn't charge so I contacted the company to get a replacement under warranty while they were still under their two years warranty. They messed around a bit as they don't have a serial number on the device so they said I might not be able to get a replacement due to that and I would have had to have kept a warranty card. So I did some research and basically they broke some EU directive selling these devices without a serial number so I quoted that and they gave me a replacement. So now I am past the 2 years warranty (like 2 years, 2 months) for the original device and the replacement won't work. So I get back on to them and they say that I out of luck now.

"We're so sorry you're experiencing an issue with your headphones again. Since your headphones are no longer covered by the two-year warranty because you had originally purchased the headset on 18th July 2020, we are sorry it's unable to provide a replacement for you this time. Kindly note that the warranty period won't be extended by a replacement."

Am I out of luck ?

Did either set of headphones ever work? In particular, did the second set?

the old warranty would not have been 'reset' when you got your replacements. thats correct.

you asked are you out of luck. amazon customer service is a funny bunch. i think they have some leeway. id hang up with the current agent and try someone else, and ask again nicely.

Both sets worked. Set 1 broke say after 18 months. They sent a new replacement. 7 months later set 2 broke. Warranty is 2 years.

Are these 20€ headphones or 300€ headphones we are talking about?

OK, I'm afraid you're on a hiding to nothing here. You've had 25 months of working headphones, which is more than the two-year warranty period.

Yeh... That makes it a funny one... Your warranty doesn't restart but the manufacturer might assist on it.. Worth a try.

Technically though, yes you are out of warranty..

They said no, 10% off a new pair. Kind of poor. Many offer out of warranty "repair" for a much reduced price.

indeed, some companies are very good at customer service and it makes it worth while using them over their competitors.

Conversely if a company lets you down, vote with your wallet and leave a factual review for everyone to see.
