Out Climote thermostat just went bang, no power(installed 2019 so it’s not brand new), company will be sell me another for half price but tbh it’s always been a bit glitchy and I don’t love having to pay an annual subscription so looking at alternative recommendations.

We are oil heating, 2 zones.

been looking at Hive and Nest.

    any tips, recommendations?

I've had nest for many years, even upgraded when I got new boiler as my old Nest didnt have open therm function, we've only one zone so not familiar with requirements with Nest and zones, but its reliable and app works and no fees, also love how its links to nest smoke alarms and are supposed to cut boiler off if smoke or carbon monoxide is detected, also links to these for movement so detects better if no ones is home to not operate heating

I have Nest too. Started with 2 zones but have since had major downstairs renovation done with urgent needs installed and now have 6 zones with 6 nests. I find it works really well but don’t have experience with other “smart” stats. I believe Hive are a very good option too.

EPH ember smart controls. I have 3 zones can activate them remotely anywhere in the world. It has a 1,2 or 3 hour boost function. Most of the rads have smart TRVs.

I had a climote for years but the smart features weren't as smart as they should have been. Smart features can be glitchy
