Dialling that doesnt work for me in flight mode

Does that work or is there another way to get mobile data in flight mode ?

It's one or the other, flight mode or data receiving/transmitting.

    That sounds right dodgy!

If you're 30,000 ft up in the air where are you getting the internet access from, and how much will it cost you?

You can be sure it won't be included in your plan.

What's the point? It's basically suggesting that you can turn on flight mode, but go into some obscure setting that allows you to turn off flight mode but leave it looking like it's in fight mode!

If you want data, turn off flight mode. If you don't want it, turn on flight mode.

Doing some trick like this isn't allowed on an aircraft, but nobody is checking your phone anyway. So if you want to do this, just turn off flight mode and nobody will say anything. But you are very unlikely to get a mobile signal at altitude in an aircraft.

I really don't understand what you hope to achieve with this.

    Nothing to do with flight

Thought it would be a handy way to stop calls and texts

Look at setting up Do Not Disturb on your phone.

Or just set it to silent for calls and messages?
